ONLINE BOOKING: Can I book you online?

Absolutely! My calendar is available via Calendly, and a link is provided on this website's home page.

 

FOREIGN LANGUAGE: Can I get my signature notarized for a document that is written in a language other than English?

My job is to verify signatures and identities and sometimes administer an oath in the process. Notarizations, by definition, require a notarial certificate. If a certificate is not present, is not in English, or is otherwise noncompliant, I can provide one that is. I also have Certificate Stamps for use in situations that require them. Unfortunately, new laws prohibit me from notarizing documents without an English translation.

 

Unfortunately, I do not have proficiency in any language other than English.

 

I-9 FORMS: Can you do I-9 validations?

Yes. I can do those. I do them for many of the major employers in the area. I will serve not as a notary public but as your company's Authorized Representative. 

 

WEDDINGS: Do you officiate Weddings?

While I have the proper certifications to do this, I do not do them as of yet. That might come soon.

Wedding ceremonies are performed under the authority of a separate officiant. An Oregon or Washington notary commission does not authorize someone to solemnize marriages.

 

AFFILIATIONS: Are you a member of the National Notary Association?

Yes, proudly.

 

WITNESSES: Do You Provide Witnesses? Do you charge for Notarizing Witnesses?

You should normally arrange any required witnesses for your documents.

 

If you cannot provide them, I may be able to arrange for local notaries to serve as witnesses at the appointment. The charge is $50 for each witness, which is passed along to that person.

 

If you provide your own witnesses and the documents require their signatures to be notarized or require them to take an oath, the regular notarial fee applies. In Oregon, that fee is $10 per witness per appointment—not per document. If the same witnesses sign multiple documents during the appointment, there is no additional witness notarization charge.

COVID AND HEALTH PRECAUTIONS:
Your health and safety are important. I follow the health and safety requirements of hospitals, care facilities, and other appointment locations. I am also happy to wear a mask upon request.

 

If you or anyone attending the appointment has a contagious illness or significant symptoms, please let me know in advance. We can discuss reasonable precautions or reschedule the appointment when appropriate.

 

REMOTE APPOINTMENTS: Remote Online Notarization

As of August 1, 2020, Oregon legalized Remote Online Notarizations (RON). These are done over The Internet using the Blue Notary platform. These require some notice and scheduling. There is preparation time that goes into these appointments.

 

NOTE: Oregon State Law excludes Last Wills from Remote Notarization, largely because of the witness requirements.

 

Rates are as follows:

• $ 25.00 - Per Each Notarized Signature

• $ 250.00 - Minimum cost for signing a loan Package.

 

The Final result will be a return PDF with all the proper signatures, notarizations, and embedded certificates.

 

REMOTE NOTARIZATION AND APOSTILLES:

In Oregon and Washington, an apostille cannot be obtained directly for a document that was notarized only through Remote Online Notarization (RON). An additional certificate bearing the original notary’s wet signature and ink stamp is required. That certificate can be completed only by the notary who performed the original remote notarization.

 

Therefore, I can facilitate an apostille for a remotely notarized document only when I performed the original RON. I will not accept or facilitate apostille requests involving remote notarizations performed by another notary.

It must also be noted that many organizations and jurisdictions do not accept remotely notarized documents. They are not included in our No-Fault warranty. Also, it is very important to note that we cannot send documents abroad that require an Apostille that have been notarized via RON that are not accompanied by a “wet ink” special certificate by the same notary that performed the original notarization.

RATES AND TRAVEL

 

RATES: How much do you charge for your services?

My charges are based on a combination of Notary and Travel Fees. The State of Oregon has mandated that Notary Fees not exceed $10 per signature. In the state of Washington, the maximum fee is $15. Travel Fees are based on the State per-mile adjustment (0.725 per mile) and distance from the Beaverton area.

• $ 40 - Includes Most of Beaverton and North Hillsboro

• $ 50 - Includes South Beaverton, South Hillsboro, Tigard and Southwest Portland (Except for Downtown ), Cornelius, Forest Grove, Banks

• $ 60 - Downtown (Parking additional) - St. Johns, Milwaukie, SE Portland (East to 82nd.), Lake Oswego, Oregon City

• $ 70 - East Side Portland, Gresham/Fairview, Happy Valley

• $ 75 - Vancouver, Washington State

• $ 95 - Salem

• Hospital and Facility Signings - Travel and Convenience

• $ 60 - St. Vincent - OSHU Hillsboro - Kaiser WestSide

• $ 70 - Emmanuel - Meridian Park - Good Samaritan

• Same Day Apostille service $ 300 in by 10:30AM (Arranged in Advance) 

• Standard Apostille service $ 150 3-5 day document return (Via UPS)

ABOUT PAYMENT: What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept the following forms of payment and will offer a paper receipt upon conclusion.

GOING TO FACILITIES: Do you travel to facilities such as Hospitals, Jails, and Rehab Centers?

Yes. The rates are slightly more than standard travel rates. Please call to determine the details and exact charges for these types of signings. The rules are touchy since COVID.

 

OFFICE APPOINTMENTS: Can I come by your office and sign, so I do not have to pay a Travel Fee?

Ultimately, Yes. I do not have a physical office. I work from my home near the Sunset Highway in the Bethany District. I will often do signings on the stoop in front of my house or set up a table in my garage if I need to. I will also meet you at either Postal Works in Bethany or at Starbucks on West Union for a reduced Travel Fee.

 

However, it is important to note two things:

• We will want those appointments scheduled, and I expect everyone to be on time. Unlike others in this business, I do not require a deposit for appointments. Please be respectful of my time, and I will be both respectful and efficient with yours.

• This is my business, and Mobile Appointments are how I can keep it running. I prefer to come to you for your convenience.

 

I realize the travel fees can make this seem like a lot of money "just to sign and stamp things." I assure you that Notaries do much more than that. Additionally, I will go a little further than many of my colleagues because of the large extent of my training, which others may not possess. We are officers of the court, trained to ensure that our notarizations are impartial, legal, and in accordance with the Laws of the States of Oregon and Washington. If the Travel fees get in the way, I will do what I can to offer you an affordable alternative.

 

TRAVEL DISTANCE: How far are you able to travel?

Typically, I cover the Greater Portland Area and Clark County. I live in the Bethany-Tanasbourne area of Beaverton and like to stay on the west side if I can. I charge a Travel and Convenience fee based on travel distance and time. Anything is possible, but I like to keep travel down to a maximum of an hour each way.

 

WARRANTY: Do you offer any form of Warranty?

Yes. I offer a 90-day No-Fault Warranty. If the document needs to be redone for any reason, the cost of re-signing it will be nothing. Travel fee will still apply unless it was a Notary error.

 

I also offer a one-year re-sign warranty on any documents that need to be re-signed because of a Notary Error. Travel Fees for those situations are typically waived.

NOTARIAL GUIDELINES, LAWS, AND STANDARDS

 

DOCUMENTS: Where can I obtain documents such as unprepared Last Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Directives?

Brewer Mobile Notary Services serves as an impartial notarial officer and document-signing professional. We do not provide legal advice or select, draft, prepare, complete, or assist in completing legal documents.

Blank forms may be made available only upon specific request by the customer. The customer is responsible for selecting the appropriate document and determining whether it meets their needs.

The customer must also tell the notary which notarial act is required. If the customer is unsure, the notary may describe the available notarial acts but cannot choose one for the customer.

APOSTILLE: My documents are going abroad and require an Apostille. Can you help with that?

Yes. An Apostille (Pronounced App-Post-EE) is a second endorsement, usually completed in Salem or Olympia, that certifies both the notarization AND the Notary. They are typically required for documents that will ultimately be delivered to a non-USA government agency. They are only done by the Secretary of State's office.

 

I can facilitate these using a courier service or UPS. Sometimes I will drive to Salem to complete them. (I do not drive to Olympia. It is simply too far.) Please call for prices and details. Also, if you wish to do this yourself, I am happy to discuss the process. It is not difficult but can be time-consuming.

 

VALID ID: Can you notarize documents without a Valid ID? Which IDs are acceptable?

Typically, No. A valid US-issued driver's license or Passport is allowed. For most documents in Oregon, we can accept an expired ID as long as it is no more than three years expired. (Washington has no such provision. All IDs have to be valid and current.) Which other ID's are accepted? [As a general rule, an acceptable ID contains the following: Signer's Full Name, Photo, Signature, Expiration Date, and a Serial Number of some sort. ]

 

NOTE: If you do not have a valid ID, please contact me. There are other ways to verify a signer's identity under the guidelines of the States of Oregon and Washington if no valid ID is found.
